    Old family legend has it that John rode up on a horse, hired on as a farm worker, married the boss' daughter, sired several children, and disappeared. (From letter written to Mr. Maddox in 1972 by Betty Ruth Webb Thomas. Copy of letter list her ancestor as Abraham Thomas Kingery, son of John and Milly. She had been told John's name was Thomas Joel Kingery.)
